Serving the Front Range and Mountain Communities of Colorado Since 1996
Here at SunSaver we offer an awning cleaning service, but many of our customers enjoy cleaning their awning as part of their bigger spring cleaning on their own. Either way, keeping your awning framework and fabric clean is important for the longevity of your awning. Each year you can hose off the framework and use a gentle soap and washcloth to wipe away any debris. If you notice bird droppings or other debris on your awning fabric, simply use a soft washcloth and gentle soap to wash spots away. Please note, harsh soaps can alter the color of your fabric so always do a small spot test. Most importantly, keep your awning out to dry before retracting it back in. In addition, check each month for any sticks or fallen debris that may need to be swept off. This ensure that nothing collects and damages your awning.
Fabric and moisture are not a great match. Too much moisture will lead to discoloration and poor stretching of your awning fabric. In addition, a wet awning can breed mold and offer a happy home to unwanted insects. We have customers who have had their retractable awnings for over 20 years who still diligently retract their awning before storms rolling in.
If your awning does collect water before you retract them, let them drain and dry off before pulling them in.
While our awnings come with wind censors, the best way to keep your awning in flawless condition is to retract your awning when not using it. This is the easiest way to maintain your awning for well over 20 years. Our awnings come with a remote control that gives you access to a single button that retracts your awning in seconds. Whenever you decide it's time to go inside, hit the button and you won't have to worry about unexpected storms rolling in, squirrels nesting on top of your fabric, or unwanted debris gathering.
While you can prevent the buildup of unwanted debris by retracting your awning while not using it, you should still visually check your awning for any leaves, sticks, or bird nests. If you find them, simply take a broom and brush off the debris. This will help keep your awning fabric clean from mold and build-up.
We are happy to have customers that still love their outdoor retractable awnings more than 20 years later! With over 4,000 Colorado homes shaded by SunSaver and nearly 30 years in the business, we can confidently say we have you covered.
